New Kaduna teachers receive salary, 8 months arrears

Secondary school teachers in Kaduna State Government have been paid their salaries including eight-month arrears, Dateline Nigeria reports.

The teachers were employed by the Kaduna State Government on July 19, 2021, and posted on May 17, 2022.

Many teachers confirmed to Dateline Nigeria that they have resolved their salaries as well as arrears begining from Monday, February 5.

The Permanent Secretary, Kaduna State Ministry of Education, Dr. Halliru Musa Soba, had said recently that the salary arrears of the newly recruited teachers would be paid in January.

He had said that the delay was due to technical hitches associated with poor documentation at the point of the employment of the affected teachers.

It would be recalled that the new teachers had earlier threatened to down tools before the Kaduna State chapters of the Nigeria Union of Teachers and the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) urged them to exercise patience as they were working to ensure the payment of their salaries and arrears.
