NDA matriculates 529 cadets for 71 regular course

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) at the weekend conducted the Matriculation Ceremony for a total of 529 cadets of 71 Regular Course.

This signal the official commencement of the cadets’ pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in various disciplines over the course of the next 4 years.

The Special guest of honour at the Ceremony, retired AVM MY Aisimi, in his remarks, urged the cadets to take both their academic and military training seriously, stating that with determination they will overcome every challenge that would be thrown in their path during the course of their training at the Academy.

The Commandant NDA, Maj Gen Jamil Sarham said in his lecture that NDA remains committed to providing first class education even though it requires that they marry both military training and academic work.

Prior to the Matriculation Ceremony, an Oath Taking Ceremony was conducted for the cadets at the NDA Parade Afaka. During the event, the cadets were administered the Oath of Allegiance.

The Cadets Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Y Yahaya, said oath taking is an important ceremony in the Armed Forces, disclosing that it shows willingness and voluntary commitment to abide by the rules of the military profession.

He added that by taking the Oath of Allegiance they are now liable to both military and civil laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He further stated, “As u progress in your training you will be taught about dignity of man, fear of God, self – respect, honesty, hard work, loyalty, love for your country and service to humanity”
