A new paramount ruler for Kontagora Emirate has emerged. He is Muhammadu Barau Mu’azu, credible sources have said.
Dateline Nigeria reports that Muhammadu Barau Muazu, a successful businessman, is the grandson of Alhaji Muazu Ibrahim, who was the 5th Sarkin Sudan and reigned from 1961 to 1974.
His emergence followed the demise of Sarkin Sudan Saidu Namaska after 47 years on the throne (1974-2021).
Muhammadu Barau Muazu was selected as the 7th Sarkin Sudan by five kingmakers of the emirate., the Niger State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Barr Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji said in a radio programme.
The Kingmakers are Alh. Aminu Ahmed Bawa (Madawaki), Alh. Shehu Yusuf (Galadima), Alh. Yusuf Tanko Usman (Waziri), Alh Adamu Moh’d Kanta (Magayaki) and Alh. Abdulkadir Bashar (Kofa).
