Mu’azu emerges acting INEC chairman, swears in new REC

Retired Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Muazu has emerged as the acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This is pending the Senate confirmation of Professor Mahmood Yakubu who was recently reappointed by President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term.

Shortly after taking over from Yakubu on Monday, retired AVM Ahmed Mu’azu performed his first duty by swearing in Chukwuemeka Chukwu as new Resident Electoral Commissioner from Abia State.

Born on 6th September, 1957 in Gombe, Gombe State, Muazu retired from service of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in 2013. He is INEC National Commissioner representing north-east and supervising Adamawa, Taraba and Borno states.
