Masari harps on constitutional role for traditional rulers, state police

Governor Aminu Bello Masari has renewed his support for constitutional review in the country so as to among other things, provide a definite and functional role for the traditional rulers to partake in governance.

Alh Aminu Masari was speaking in a special personality program in Kaduna.

The Governor observed that various amendments of the Nigerian constitution did not properly recognize traditional rulers despite their leadership roles as community leaders and also custodians of traditions.

He said the Katsina State government on it’s part, had already amended the local government laws to provide for Community policing with traditional rulers fully empowered to lead security committees at their respective domains.

Governor Aminu Masari also declared support for the inclusion of the creation of State Police in the Nigerian Constitution as it will go a long way in addressing most of the security challenges being faced across the country.
