Lawan, Wamakko, others donate N19.8m at Sokoto book launch

Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, on Saturday, in Sokoto, announced a total donation of N19.8m at the launching of three books by a renowned Islamic cleric, Dr Jabir Sani Mai-hula.

Wamakko gave the breakdown of the donation as follows: Senate President Ahmad Lawan N3m, Senate Leader Abdullahi Yahayya N1m, Minister of Police Affairs Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi N1m, Senator Ibrahim Gobir N2m, and his personal donation of N3m.

Others were: Senator Danjuma Goje N3m, Senator Adamu Aliero N2m, Senator Abdullahi Adamu N1m, Senator Lawalli Hassan Anka N1m and Senator Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba N2m.

The rest of the donations included that Senator Bala ibn Na Allah N1m, Rep Ahmad Abdullahi Kalambaina N100,000, Amb Sahabi Isa Gada N100,000, Alhaji Harande Mahe, Special Adviser to Dingyadi N100,000, Sheikh Bashir Gidan Kanawa N100,000 and Alhaji Nasiru Shehu Bodinga, Chairman, Police Public Relations Committee (PCRC), Sokoto State Command N200,000.

In all, a total of over N 92m was realised at the books’ launch, both in cash and pledges.

Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko stressed the importance of education and pledged to continue to support Islamic propagation, as well as the studies, recitation and memorization of the glorious Qur’an.

The author, Dr Jabir Sani Mai-hula, Head of Department, Islamic Studies, Sokoto State University, as well as Chief Imam, Sultan Sa’ad Juma’at Mosque, Gwiwa Low cost, Sokoto, said that his gesture was to contribute to the growth and development of Islam.

The three books launched were: Ibn Taimiyya In the Literature of Contemporary Jihadists, Tabdili Sunnatu, Mursalu Ilal Jannat and another one on it’s Hausa translation.
