Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority inducts 73 staff

The Kwara State Government has pledged unalloyed and continuous support to the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority.

Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, made the pledge at the induction of 73 officers of the defunct Kwara Express into the service of KWARTMA.

The governor, represented by the State’s Head of Service, Mrs Susan ‘Dupe Oluwole, congratulated the newly inducted Officers and men for their commitment in making their new abode a conducive one for them and their host.

The HoS appreciated the Authority for transforming the erstwhile civil servants into regimental public servants and assured the Agency that the State Government under the able leadership of the Executive Governor is ready to support KWARTMA in its aspiration to be one of the best traffic agencies in the country.

The HoS had in her entourage the Permanent Secretary Service Welfare, Alhaja Afolabi Afusat; and that of Establishment and Training, Alhaji Boni Aliu Shuaib,

In his speech, the representative of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Olayemi B.K expressed his delight at the transformation of the inductees and urged them to be good ambassadors of KWARTMA and the state as a whole.

Other dignitaries from the political circle who graced the occasion include the S.A Security, Mr Muideen Aliu; S.A Policy and Strategy, Alh Saadu Salau; and S.A Political Communication, Mr Bashir Adigun.

In his remark, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Transport TPL Isiaq Olokoba (PhD) appreciated the HoS for facilitating the absorption of the personnel of the defunt Kwara Express into KWARTMA and appealed to her to help in facilitating all the logistics needed to make KWARTMA one of the best Traffic Management Agency in the country.

Earlier in his welcome address, the KWARTMA CEO, Yekeen Tunde Bello commended the State Government for re-organization of Harmony Holding which gave birth to the absorption of the newly inducted Officers and Men.
He however solicited for employment of more personnel into KWARTMA to ensure effective and efficient traffic control and management so as to minimize cases of road crashes across the length and breadth of the state.

He also highlighted some challenges that is being faced by the Authority which include inadequate office accommodation, aged patrol vehicles, take-off grant for its approved Zonal Offices among others.

In their goodwill messages, the representatives of MIKANO group, (makers of MIKANO and GELLY motors) Engr. Abdul Ganiyu and Mr Salako Nurudeen Yemi lauded the Agency for their part in making business easy in the state by ensuring that KWARA roads are devoid of traffic gridlock. They further emphasized that the donation of 20 pieces of traffic control posts to KWARTMA is part of their CSR to the Agency and assured the Agency of more patronage.

Also at the ceremony was the CEO, Monarch luxury Hotels Engr Aliyu and representative of First Bank of Nigeria PLC Mr Shola Faleye.
