Kidnappers of Katsina monarch’s wife, daughter demand N150m ransom
The kidnappers who took away the wife and daughter of a prominent monarch and businessman Sunday night in Jibia Local Government of Katsina State have demanded N150 million ransom for their release.
A gang of armed kidnappers stormed the Jibia residence of monarch, Alhaji Tasi’u Waliyyi after Isha’i prayers and abducted two of his family members and an aide after shooting dead one person.
The kidnappers reportedly herded away their victims on foot out of the area to an unknown destination.
The monarch escape escaped the gang members who took away his mobile phones.
Dateline was informed by a family source that the kidnappers contacted Alhaji Waliyyi, asking for N150million to release the three captives.
Spate of kidnappings in parts of Katsina early this year, forced wealthy residents of border communities to relocate to Niger Republic for security.
A recent peace effort initiated by the state government had helped reduce kidnappings and bandits’ attacks on communities in the state.
