Kebbi gov hails Buhari for Yelwa’s appointment as HYPPADEC boss

President Muhammadu Buhari has been commended for appointing an indigine of Kebbi State, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa as the pioneer Managing Director of Hydro Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC).

The commendation was made by Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the Kebbi State Governor during a farewell reception on Thursday for Sadiq Yelwa at the Government House Birnin Kebbi.

Bagudu said President Muhammadu Buhari has identified the potential ability and capability of the new appointee, advising the appointee to uphold the confidence repose on him.

The governor has also expressed happiness and appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing other worthy indigines of Kebbi State into key positions within the Federal Government.

Bagudu mentioned Alhaji Atiku Bunu of Federal Character Commission, Alhaji Ahmad Sama, Federal Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Hussaini Kangiwa as Chairman of Commission for People with Disability, Hassan Bello of Shippers Council, Hassan Koko of Ports Authority, the immediate past Director General of National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Dr. Nasir Ladan Argungu while hoping that the Senate would ratify the appointment of Professor A.A Zuru as National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) representing North West.

The governor described the outgoing Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Alhaji Sadiq Yelwa as a man of great repute who has contributed to the development of the Ministry and Kebbi State in General.

He extolled the performance of Yelwa during his tenure which according to him characterised by housing projects and land allocation formidably implemented as well as the introduction of Kebbi State Geographic System, AGIS.

Responding, the new Managing Director of HYPPADEC, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa thanked the governor for the invaluable opportunity to serve in his cabinet describing him a close mentor who has impacted on the success of his career in life.

He opined that governor Bagudu had supported and influenced his graduation from the University successful when the governor was a lecturer.

Yelwa also thanked the governor for his unrelenting support to the Ministry for Lands and Urban Development while he was the Commissioner which led to the myriad of achievements recorded.

He acknowledged the tremendous role played by governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu in the success of his present appointment

He promised the governor that the Commission would liaise with Kebbi State Government in implementation of its programs and schemes pointing out that seventy percent of those affected by construction of Kainji Dam forty eight years ago were residents of Kebbi State.

He averred “Dandi, Koko, Yauri and Bagudo local government areas worst affected by the construction of Kainji Dam.

“The people of these areas deserved commensurate rehabilitation” he added.
