As part of his ongoing visits to Fulani communities, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi was on Tuesday in Sabon Garin Yadi, in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Islamic scholar was accompanied by Kaduna State Commissioner of Police Umar Muri as well as regular members of his entourage, including the Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque Sheikh Muhammad Suleiman Adam.
Over 500 bandits amd 25 of their commanders who used to operate on the Zaria-Giwa road as well as that of Birnin Gwari area attended the gathering.
Sabon Garin Yadi is about 65 kilometers from Zaria, while the location of the bush allowed the bandits to freely listen to Sheikh Gumi.
According to Desert Herald, the federal government, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, has supported Sheikh Gumi’s carrot approach and confidence-building mission.
Gumi distributed reading materials to the attendees among other things.
