The Kaduna State Government has banned gas retail shops in residential and high-risk areas with immediate effect.
By this directive, all retail gas refill shops operating in the said areas are to shut down
Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, announced the decision after inspecting the scene of a fatal gas explosion that occurred on Saturday, according to a statement by Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, on Monday.
Similarly, ministries and agencies concerned with public safety have also been directed to review high risk businesses in residential areas and come up with a relocation plan with immediate effect.
The gas explosion led to the death of the Chairman, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, Professor Simon Mallam, his son and three others.
