Chairman of Daily Trust Editorial Board and Monday columnist Malam Mahmud Jega has submitted a notice of resignation to the newspaper company, sources informed Dateline Nigeria.

Jega’s resignation will take effect by the end of January this month, it was also learnt on Wednesday.

According to the sources, Jega is set to lead a new media company called 21st Century Chronicle.

Daily Trust had in December 2019 announced Jega’s retirement as Associate Director/Deputy Editor-in-Chief.

However, the ace writer retained his Monday column and position as Chairman of Editorial Board. Jega also handled special assignments for the paper as part of the retainership deal.

Dateline Nigeria reports that Jega joined the services of Media Trust in 2006 where he worked as Managing Editor and later Editor of the Daily title.

Before then, he had served as editor in the New Nigerian newspapers, Sentinel and Citizen magazines.
