Izala distributes over N22m items to 6,800 orphans in Abuja

The JamaátuI Izala-til Bid’ah WaIqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Abuja branch, has distributed food clothes and money worth over N22m to 6,800 orphans and the needy.

The National Chairman of the group, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau led the distribution of the items on Saturday at the Umar Ibn Khaddab Jumaah mosque (also known as Masallacin Berger), where the JIBWIS national headquarters is located in Utako, Abuja.

The amount was taken from the N30,186,760 gathered at this year’s Ramadaan tafsir being conducted by the National Secretary of the group, Sheikh Muhammadu Kabiru Haruna Gombe and Alaramma Ahmad Ibrahim Suleiman at the Umar Ibn Khaddab mosque.

Speaking at the event, the chairman of the orphans’ committee in Abuja, Alh. Abdullahi Abdulmalik Diggi said various items were distributed.

“By way of breakdown, a total of 6,800 orphans and needy persons benefitted. We bought 530 bags of rice at N14,167,00; we bought materials (atampa and shadda) at N2,382,800; we would pay N5,000 sewing expenses for 1000 orphans cumulatively at N5,000,000. We also expended N940,000 as miscellaneous. This comes to N22,603,800. We now have N7,582, 960 in our account,” Diggi said.

Also speaking, Sheikh Muhammadu Kabiru Haruna Gombe called on Muslims, especially the well-to-do, to always show mercy to the orphans.

He said the number of orphans is fast rising in different facets of life, and therefore people need to do more. “This way, the Almighty Allah will also assist us and answer our prayers for peace in Nigeria.”

Sheikh Bala Lau said the group also plans to start offering scholarships to orphans amd marrying off those ready for marriage.

He called on those conducting tafsir across the country to continue to harp on the importance of taking care of orphans and the needy. He also urged more prayers for peace in Nigeria.
