IGP presents cheques worth N6.5m to families of deceased police officers

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police Umar M Muri, on behalf of the acting Inspector General of Police Ag. IGP Usman Baba Alkali, presented cheques worth N6.5m to 14 families of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The spokesman of the police in Kaduna ASP Muhanmed Jalige disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

“The gesture is an initiative of the Inspector General of Police titled “IGP FAMILY WELFARE INSURANCE” aimed at supporting the families of deceased Police Officers who died in active service of their father land.

“The initiative is not only to support the immediate families of the fallen heroes, but also to boost the morale of other gallant Officers who are in active service in all nook and crannies of the country in order for them to do more in reclaiming public spaces as their welfare remain paramount to the current administration of the Force.

“While presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries at the Kaduna Police Command headquarters, the Commissioner of Police, CP UM Muri advised them to judiciously use the token to ameliorate the financial needs of the deceased’s dependants.

“The families were full of praise and appreciation of the gesture accorded to them by the Inspector General of Police and prayed for a successful tenure of office for him in particular and the Nigeria Police Force in general,” the statement said.
