Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila has met with representatives of the labour union, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and SGF Boss Mustapha in an effort to stop the planned strike action by Nigerian workers.
The labour unions in Nigeria have asked the Federal Government to reverse the hike in electricity tariff and fuel price or face industrial action.
Commenting on the development, Gbajabiamila says “After my meeting with Labour I met with the VP and SGF. We had fruitful discussions and I am hopeful tomorrow’s strike will be averted.”
The Federal Government had earlier met with labour leaders on Thursday in an effort to stop the strike. Nigerian governors also urged the labour to reason with government.
