I am not the only divorced woman on social media, Mansurah Isah tells critics

Kannywood star Mansurah Isah has a message for those criticising her since the dissolution of her marriage to Sani Musa (popularly known as Sani Danja).

Mansurah took to her Instagram page, where she has more than 1.4 million followers, to break her silence over the issue that had dominated discuss within and outside the Hausa film industry.

“I took Sallah pictures, you said that’s why I ended my marriage, I travelled to another town, you said that’s why I killed my marriage, I went out to eat with my friends, you said that’s what I like doing, I went for my NGO work, which I have been doing for nearly 20 years, you said that’s what led me to leave my matrimonial home.

“Now, some will say Mansurah, don’t answer them, don’t mind them. I’m not minding anything, but you should know that it is my life, I can do anything with my life. What is new please? Is it the word divorce that you have never heard before, or have you never seen a divorced woman?

“…The Almighty Allah who created us made divorce permissible. What do you want from us as believers? Is the directive of the Almighty Allah that we should follow or yours? I know I have not wronged anyone. But some are even opening new media accounts just to abuse me. Just like that. I am not the only divorced woman on social media.

“If you see the children of the rich, naked with no head covering, or doing as they like on social media, you hail them. If actors do the same, you abuse them. Is this justice? You should fear the Almighty Allah. Young people, including the elderly, come through direct message just to abuse me.

“If you go back home, ask your sister, mother or neighbor that had been divorced how it feels, ask them what they are going through. Get their answers and you will know what you have done to me. I will never forgive anyone that disturbs my life. May Almighty Allah reward me. May the Almighty do to them what they are doing to me, or do the same to their children, parents or relations. Oh Allah, afflict them with tribulations in marriage so they get a taste of their own medicine. Ameen ya Allah.”
