House of Reps: Jibrin out as Doguwa returns

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Aliyu Datti-Yako, has defeated Alhaji Abdulmumin Jibrin of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the re-run election for Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Datti-Yako winner of the reelection which took place on Saturday. The returning officer, Prof. Abdullahi Arabi said, Datti-Yako scored 48,601 to defeat Jibrin who got 13,587 votes.

However, APC’s Alhassan Ado-Doguwa has won the rerun election for the Tudun Wada/Doguwa Federal Constituency in Kano State with 66, 667 votes. He defeated Salisu Yushau of the PDP who scored 6,323 votes, according to the results announced by the returning officer, Prof. Auwalu Mansur-Bindawa.

Dateline Nigeria reports that Abdulmumin Jibrin recently visited President Muhammadu Buhari in what was seen as a last minute to save his seat.
