The Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Police Command, SP Muhammad Ahmad Wakil, confirmed the incident.

He said “Police received a distress call from a good Samaritan that an unknown person has used a stone to break the skull of the Almajiri Pupil.

“The two Quranic School pupils Muhammad Yunusa, 11, and Aminu Yusuf, 12, were deceived by the unknown person who apparently used a stone to break the skull of Yunus and ran to an unknown destination.”

Wakil said immediately the police received the call, they went to the scene of the incident where they met Yunus lying in a pool of his own blood and took him to the Specialist Hospital Bauchi for autopsy where the medical doctor certified him dead.

Wakil said the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sylvester Abiodun Alabi, has directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) A division, to act with immediate effect and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.

He advised parents to monitor the movement of their children and not to allow them to answer calls from strangers in the name of giving them something.
