Health insurance for corps members excites Yobe NYSC coordinator

The Yobe State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Hajiya Hafsat Yarima, has expressed delight over the quality of healthcare services given to corps members under the National Health Insurance Authority GIFSHIP-n .

The coordinator disclosed this during the sensitisation of the moblised corps members at the Yobe State Orientation Camp, Dazigau Potiskum.

She used this medium to thank the Federal Government and the NYSC for ensuring the implementation of this programme by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

She said the main objective of this programme is to ensure that serving corps members have access to adquate and quality healthcare services and to protect them against financial risk from medical expenses.

At the end of his presentation, the NHIA coordinator Yobe State, Alh. Mustapha Muhammad called on the corps members to judiciously utilise this opportunity of accessing quality healthcare under the GIFSHIP-n.

He said “this opportunity is for you now as the corps members during the previous batch did not enjoy this.”

The coordinator stated that the programme has started yielding fruitful result, since corps members now have no worry about where to go accessing of quality healthcare.

He explained that once a corps member is moblised he is entitled to have access to healthcare before orientation, during and after the orientation through out the service year.

Salisu Hassan, Ph.D, Head of Enlightenment, NHIA Yobe, in his presentation, said the GIFSHlP is also comprehensive and similar to what is obtainable in other NHIA programmes.

Dr. Auwal Ibrahim, Head of SQA, while going round to the Healthcare Provider assigned to the Camp (General Hospital Potiskum) said he was happy with the improvement in the Clinic.

Alh. Abubakar Othman, the Head of Programmes, responded to some of the questions raised by the corps members.

Some corps members who spoke during the visit said they were happy with the introduction of “this laudable healthcare programme” specifically for the Corp members.
