A teacher in the school said, “the attack started when we were preparing for mock exams for SS2 students. After addressing the students, we barely arrived at the staff room, when the sounds of gunshots rent the air.”

The teacher said the gunshots created panic with many students running into the nearby millet farm.

The authorities have yet to comment on the number of students abducted during the attack, but the teacher said many students were in the school at the time of the attack.
