The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Information and Culture Yakubu Lawal has been abducted, the police in the state have confirmed.
The spokesperson of the Nasarawa State Police Command DSP Ramhan Nansel confirmed the abduction in a statement issued on Tuesday morning.
He said a police team on patrol in Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area of the state heard the sounds of gunshots around 8:45pm on Monday and decided to check the area.
According to the police spokesperson, when the police arrived, the yet-to-be identified gunnen had already kidnapped the information commissioner from his residence.
He said policemen have been deployed in an effort to rescue the abducted commissioner. He also appealed to those with useful information to help the police.
