Goronyo emerges chairman as Sokoto PDP elects new executives

Sokoto State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has elected new executive members to run its affairs.

The election took place on Saturday at Giginya Memorial Stadium in the state capital.

Thereafter, the 39 members led by Alhaji Bello Aliyu Goronyo, erstwhile Commissioner for Solid Minerals in the state, were sworn-in.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state commended the members of the party from ward level to state level for their cooperation, transparency and synergy that led to the emergence of the new leadership of the party at various level.

He also commended members of the committee sent by the national secretariat to supervise and organise the Congresses in the state.

The Governor, according to his spokesman Muhammad Bello, thanked the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials and security agents for their role in ensuring very smooth election process.

He congratulated the newly elected executives from the ward, local government and state level for the confidence reposed on them by the teeming supporters of the party in the state.

Tambuwal said he trusts and believes in God that, they will justify the confidence reposed on them.

He charged them to bring everybody together, to provide inclusive leadership through consultations in order to carry along all the stakeholders in whatever they are going to do in the discharge of their duties as leaders.

The governor explained that their new position is a trust that have been given to them and assured them of the state government’s maximum support and cooperation for them to succeed.

He charged them to open their doors to members of the party and said his administration will continue to offer open door policy for good governance in the state.

He appealed to them to woo more supporters to the party, saying that many people want to join the PDP.

In his address the Chairman of the Congress Hon. Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi said the 39 hitherto vacant offices have now been filled through consensus.

He commended the PDP members in the state for organising themselves in an orderly manner.

He congratulated the newly elected officials of the party and urged them to work togetther in order to perform their assignment effectively.

In his address after the inauguration, the new PDP Chairman in the state, Alhaji Bello Aliyu Goronyo thanked the party supporters in the state for finding them worthy to steer its the leadership.

He said they will work tirelessly in order to justify the confidence reposed on them.

Highlight of the ceremony was the inauguration of newly elected executives by the state Commissioner for Justice, Suleiman Usman (SAN) which was presided over by the Chairman of the Congress, Hon. Ozomgbachi and his members.
