Ganduje names sacked commissioner chairman of gas project committee

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has appointed Engr. Mu’azu Magaji as chairman Kano State Gas Pipeline Project Delivery and Gas Industrialization Committee.

The appointment of Mu’azu Magaji is coming six months after he was sacked by Ganduje as commissioner for works and Infrastructure for allegedly celebrating the death of late Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari, from coronavirus.

Other members of the committee are: Alhaji Kabiru Musa Adamu (Chairman, MAN Sharada/Challawa Branch), representatives of Ministries of Finance, Planning and Budget, Commerce & Industry, Works and Infrastructure, Justice, Environment, Information, Bureau of Land Management, Kano Urban Planning Development Agency (KNUPDA), KANIVEST, Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA), Special Adviser, Foreign Investment and Substantive Permanent Secretary, member and Head of Secretariat.

The appointment is contained in a letter dated 29th October 2020 and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Research, Evaluation and Political Affairs Directorate, Office of the Secretary to the Kano State Government, Bilikisu Shehu Maimota.

The committee’s terms of reference include, among other things, to coordinate in close partnership with the NNPC on timely implementation of the NNPC-AKK Gas Pipeline Project as well as to liaise with the NNPC for all information, assistance and enablers required either from Kano State Government to NNPC or from NNPC to the Kano State Government towards the implementation of the project.
