FUD: Badaru pledges support to Visitation Panel

  • Emir of Dutse lauds Prof. J.D.Amin, Prof. Fatima and Prof. Abdulkarim

The Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has pledged his support to the Presidential Visitation Panel to the Federal University Dutse.

The Governor who made the pledge when the Visitation Panel paid a courtesy call on him at the government house said the government of Jigawa state is willing to support the committee to achieve their aims and objectives adding that his government is ready to engage the committee at high or technical level during their stay in state.

Governor Badaru also told the panel that the state government has a very cordial working relationship with the university adding that the door of the state government is open at all times to the management of the university. He said the university has been doing excellently well in terms of research that benefit the community especially the black plum which the university has processed to variety of products that is now improving the lives of the local community.

Earlier during a courtesy call at the palace of the Emir of Dutse,Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi, who commended the giant strides of the Pioneer Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Jibrilla Dahiru Amin who built the university from scratch and Prof. Fatima Batul Muktar who consolidated the efforts of Prof. J.D.Amin and left her sterling legacies at the university.

The Emir said it is now the turn of the first indigene of the state to occupy the position of VC in the university adding that Prof.Abdulkarim has got the intelligence, the training and exposure to take the university to a greater height in the next five years.

The Emir welcomed members of the panel to his palace. He called on them to make recommendations that will help to make FUD the best university in Africa.

The royal father lamented the environmental degradation whose consequences is climate change all over the world. He called on the university to mount programs that would help the community to fight environmental degradation and improve the livelihood of the community.

The Chairman of the Panel, Prof. Monday Mangwat thanked both the Governor and Emir of Dutse for the excellent reception given to them. He said the panel is in the state to evaluate the activities of the university in the last ten years adding that government and traditional institutions should make submission to the panel on areas they feel the university should partner with them.

He said so far so good, the university is doing well from their findings.

Prof. Mangwat who also address the university community said the panel will work for two months and they welcome submissions from members of the university community adding that the panel is not a probe panel.

He said their job is to evaluate and make recommendations to the federal government.
