Fire wreaks havoc on Minna central market

A midnight inferno has destroyed no fewer than 40 shops at the Kure Ultramodern Market in Minna.

Goods worth millions of naira were lost to the fire.

Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has sympathized with the marketers especially those whose shops were involved in the inferno early Thursday.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary Mary Noel-Berje, the governor, who asked the victims of the fire disaster to see it as an act permitted by God, promised that the state will do the needful to ameliorate their present predicament.

The cause of the fire, which was put out by the combined efforts of the firemen from the State and Federal Fire Service, is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, the Senator representing Niger South, Mal Muhammed Bima Enagi, has expressed sadness over the fire incident.

The Senator said, “The news of the inferno that destroyed the popular market in Niger just got to me. I am deeply saddened by this disaster so early in this month and extend my condolences to all those affected.”
