FG to double Abuja-Kaduna train fare

The Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has said that train fare for the Abuja to Kaduna service will double when the train resumes operations.

The trains have suspended operations due to the fear of Covid-19 spread in the country. The Minister did not when operations will resume.

Amaechi disclosed this on Saturday in Delta State while inspecting construction works on the Ikapke to Warri rail line. He said the upward review is necessary because the train will now carry only half of its capacity to ensure physical distancing.

When the train service resumes, First class Express trip will cost N6,000 from N3,000; normal first-class will cost N,5000 from N2,500, while economy express trip will cost N3,000 from N1,500. The economy normal trip 2ill cost N2,600 from N1,300.

Dateline Nigeria also reports that passengers would be required to hold personal hand sanitizers in addition to wearing facemasks to be allowed onto the train.
