FG names Idu train station after UN Deputy Sec-Gen Amina Mohammed

The Federal Government on Tuesday named the Idu train station in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja after United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed.

The announcement was made by the government and the Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi on Twitter.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria has named the Idu Railway Complex—including the Idu Railway Station of Abuja-Kaduna Rail and the Light Rail Station of the FCT Abuja Metro, and associated facilities—after Amina J Mohammed, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations @UN,” the tweet read.

Amina Mohammed was Nigeria’s Minister of Environment before her appointment at the UN. She is now the first Nigerian woman alive to have a railway station named after her.
