FG condemns attacks on Nigeria’s diplomatic premises in Accra

Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama has condemned an attack on Nigeria’s diplomatic premises by criminals in Accra, Ghana.

The minister made Nigeria’s position known via a post on hia verified twitter handle on Sunday.

“We strongly condemn two outrageous criminal attacks in Accra, Ghana, on a residential building in our diplomatic premises by unknown persons in which a bulldozer was used to demolish the building.

“We are engaging the Ghanaian Government and demand urgent action to find the perpetrators and provide adequate protection for Nigerians and their property in Ghana,” the minister said without elaborating.

Dateline Nigeria recalls that the Ghanaian Government had in January this year allocated the building in the Nigerian Diplomatic premises to a member of the country’s ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

It then changed the building’s Green White Green (Nigeria’s national colours) paintings to white, after asking the Nigerian High Commission to vacate the building.

According to reports, the diplomatic building, which is situated at No, 10 Barnes Road, Accra, was acquired by Nigeria in 1959.
