Exclusive: What Ganduje used to dethrone Kano emir Sanusi

As the removal of the Emir of Kanu Muhammadu Sanusi II continues to draw reactions among Nigerians, especially on the social media, Dateline Nigeria has exclusively obtained a cooy of the recommendations which Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s government relied on for its action.

The recommendations were forwarded to the governor by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission on Monday, March 9, 2020. It was signed by the executive chairman Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado.

Ganduje is also set to name a new emir for Kano, which is now one of the five emirates in the state. There are feelers that the new emir may come the house of the late Ado Bayero.

Below is the content of the document titled: “FORWARDING OF COMMISSION’S RECOMMENDATION PURSUANT TO
SECTION 18 (1) OF THE KANO STATE PUBLIC COMPLAINTS AND ANTI
CORRUPTION COMMISSION LAW 2008 (AS AMENDED)

INTRODUCTION

“His Excellency may wish to recall the Commission’s earlier preliminary reports on allegation of Financial Misappropriation by Kano Emirate Council under the Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II and the subsequent court order(s) stopping the Commission’s activities by the Emir Muhammadu Sanusi.

“The Commission also initiated an investigation which is related to whistleblower information on the encroachment of land reserves spread all e state “Gandun Sarki which is subject to the provision of Section 9 and 15 of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Law 2008 (as amended) an act which violates section 22, 23 and 26 of the Kano State commission’s investigation revealed that, a company, Country Wide House Ltd. served as a corporate vehicle to allegedly launder the sum of Five
Hundred and Twenty Million Naira (N520,000,000.00) being proceed of 20 Hectares of Land at Darmanawa lI under the former Right of Occupancy CON-RES-2016-503 illegally sold to Messrs Family Home Fund Limited at the alleged instance of His Highness the Emir of Kano.

“Investigation further reveals that, some of the proceeds of the sales remitted to the Emirate Council Bank Account can be traced to the companies of interest to His Highness. While His Highness is also allege to have ordered for the payment of One Hundred and Seventy Five Million Naira (N175,000,000.00) to Messrs. Apple Integrated Resources as facilitation fee for the agreement of provision for side and services at Darmanawa 33.4 Hectares by Messrs. City Scape Ltd. As well as 200 Million to a foreign company claimed to be Messr Sami Matta and other Associates Consultants against the decision of the Emirate Council of 8 June, 2016 (A (2016) 4h Meeting) which rejected such move of payment to the company which the Commission’s investigation confirmed that has never participated in any dealing with the City Scape arrangement with Ado Bayero Royal City Trust Fund.

“Investigation also reveals that, all the alleged illegal transactions for the sales of the landed properties at Darmanawa, Hotoro and Bubbugaje belonging to the Emirate was done by the trio of Shehu Muhammad Dankadai (Sarkin
Shanu), Sarki Abdullahi Ibrahim (Makaman Kano) and Mustapha Kawu Yahaya (Dan isan Lapai) based on the alleged instruction of His Highness the
Emir of Kano all of whom have made useful statements that necessitated the invitation of His Highness to clanify some issues.

“The Commission established a strong prima facie evidences of criminal preacn of trust by servant, official corruption and other related offences contrary to the Penal Code Law, Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission Law 2008 (as amended) and other existing Laws.

“However, I wish at this juncture to intimate His Excellency that His Highness has not relent in his effort to frustrate our investigation even when we comply with the direction of the court to extend an invitation to give him a fair hearing, only for him to approach the same court again seeking to be shield from investigation consequent upon which the court restrain him from honouring our invitation pending the determination of the motion.

“It is on this note that, we recommend to the Government to take appropriate administrative measures to prevent the Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II from meddling and continue obstructing our investigation
