A former Chairman of Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State ALhaji Shehu Ahmed, popularly known as Shehu Giant, has died.
He died in the early hours of Tuesday at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna after a protracted illness, family sources told Dateline Nigeria.
His janaza (funeral prayers) held today after Zuhr (noon) prayer at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Unguwar Sarki Kaduna, close to his house.
The deceased had earlier spent time in Cairo, Egypt undergoing treatment.
Giant, who served as Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government in 2013, was also before his death, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Zonal Chairman, Zone 2 Kaduna Central.
In his condolence message, the PDP governorship candidate in Kaduna State Isa Ashiru said “I received the devastating news of the demise of a committed and seasoned Politician, the Kaduna Central Zonal Chairman of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Shehu Ahmed Giant.
“Giant has contributed immensely to the development of our great Party. As a Chairman of Kaduna North, he has tremendously done well for the good people of Kaduna North. He died at a time when our party is in dire need of his experience and contributions.
“My sincere condolence to the PDP Kaduna State Family most especially the Kaduna North LG Chapter. May Allah in his infinite mercy forgive his shortcomings and grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
