Emir of Zazzau Ahmad Bamalli appoints new Waziri

The Emir of Zazzau Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli has appointed Khadi Muhammad Inuwa Aminu as the new Wazirin Zazzau and a senior member of the emirate council.

The appointment is contained in a letter dated Monday 11 October 2021 and signed by the Secretary of the Zazzau Emirate Council and Sarkin Fulanin Zazzau Alhaji Barau Musa Aliyu.

“I have been directed to inform you that, on the orders of Kaduna State Government of 20/09/2021 contained in a memo GH/KD/S78, the Emir of Zazzau has conferred on you the title of Wazirin Zazzau and senior member of the emirate council effective Monday 11 October 2021.

“His Royal Highness the emir and the people of Zazzau emirate congratulate you and wish you the best, hoping you will discharge your responsibility sincerely for the development of the Zazzau emirate as well as continue to tell the truth at all times…,” the letter reads in part.

Dateline Nigeria reports that the new Wazirin Zazzau Khadi Muhammad Inuwa Aminu is former Secretary of New Nigerian Newspapers Kaduna.

It would be recalled that Governor Nasir El-Rufai had in November 2020 suspended the former Wazirin Zazzau Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu, which stirred controversy.

Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu was one of the five kingmakers of Zazzau emirate, and he was suspended at a time some interested parties went to court to challenge the emergence of Amb Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli as the 19th Emir of Zazzau.

While some said the monarch was suspended for not attending a meeting summoned by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, others said he was targeted for not dancing to the tune of the governor with regards to the new emir.

The kingmakers had submitted the names of three people to succeed late Dr Shehu Idris, leaving out the choice of the governor. The Kaduna State government ordered the kingmakers to restart the selection process.

There are also some who said Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu was suspended for allegedly leaking the result of their selection to journalists.

Dateline Nigeria reports that in February this year, Kaduna State Government filed a criminal complaint against Ibrahim Aminu for alleged forgery and violation of Official Secret Act during the selection process of a new emir.

Ibrahim has denied the charge and the case is still on.
