El-Rufai, Zazzau emir, others attend funeral of Sheikh Abubakar Gumi’s widow

A multitude of mourners, including Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai and Emir of Zazzau Amb Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli attended the funeral prayers (Janazah) of Hajiya Aminatu, one of the widows of Sheikh Abubakar Mahmud Gumi.

The prayers held by 4:30pm at the family residence of the late Islamic scholar at No 1 Modibbo Adama Road, Unguwar Sarki Kaduna. Dr. Hamza Abubakar Mahmud Gumi, one of the children of the deceased, led the prayers.

Hajiya Aminatu died at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna after a brief illness. She was 86 years old.

The funeral was attended by the Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque Kaduna Dr. Sulaiman Adam, Sheikh Abdulhamid Balele Wali, Alkali Dahiru Lawal Abubakar, Malam Murtala Shanono, Mal Nuhu Alhafiz, Mal Isah Abdullahi Adarkake, Malam Bello Sarkin Malamai.

Others included Sen Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, Senator Musa Bello, and many more.

Hajiya Aminatu Bintu is the second widow of Sheikh Gumi to pass on since his death in 1992.

She is survived by eight chidren – four males and four females. They are: Dr. Hamza Abubakar Gumi, Brig. Gen. Abdulkadir Abubakar Gumi, Malam Hassan Abubakar Gumi, Malam Yusuf Abubakar Gumi, Hajiya Ummulkhair Abubakar Gumi, Hajiya Aisha Abubakar Gumi Hajiya Hauwa Abubakar Gumi and Hajiya Baraka Abubakar Gumi.
