El-Rufai visits communities attacked by bandits

...says no amnesty for bandits

Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai has visited five communities attacked on Sunday by bandits in Igabi and Giwa local government areas of the state.

Malam el-Rufai apologised to the people over what he described as the state’s inability to protect them fully, saying Kaduna is big and anytime one place is secured, the bandits opened another.

He offered his condolence and expressed sadness over the fatal attacks, even as he promised that the government would not negotiate with the bandits or grant them amnesty.

Dateline Nigeria reports that 50 people were killed and several houses as well as vehicles burnt by the heavily armed bandits who allegedly stormed the area on motorcycles.

He assured them that security agencies will further step up operations to rout the bandits.
