A daughter of former Kaduna North Local Government Chairman Sadiq Mamman Lagos has died, about a month after she was shot by bandits while returning to Kaduna from Abuja together with her father and two family members.
Khadijah Mamman Lagos died on Thursday around 7am in an Egyptian hospital, a day after undergoing surgery.
She was travelling on Friday 17 September 2021 with her father, brother Mahmood, and Mahmood’s wife when they came under attack by bandits along the Kaduna eastern bye-pass, behind to the Kaduna refinery.
Khadijah and the former chairman’s daughter-in-law who were hit by the bandits’ bullet were first taken to St Gerard’s Hospital Kaduna before she was flown to Egypt, and the daughter-in-law taken to Abuja.
Dateline Nigeria learnt that the former chairman, who was behind the wheels, had tried to run over the gunmen forcing them off the road. But they opened fire and shot the daughter and the daughter in-law who were at the back seat.
“She has had a successful surgery on Tuesday on her right arm where she was shot by bandits. But she died of cardiac arrest on today in the morning,” one of the sources said, adding that details of her funeral would be announced by the family.
Khadijah graduated with a first class from an Egyptian University.
