Daudawa: What we know about killing of bandit leader so far – Zamfara govt

Zamfara State government has confirmed the killing of notorious bandit Auwalu Daudawa, the mastermind of the abduction of over 300 schoolboys fron Government Science Secondary School Kankara, Katsina State.

The state Commissioner for Security, Abubakar Muhammad Dauran told the BBC Hausa service that Daudawa was killed in a clash with a rival bandit group.

According to him, the bandit was killed along with some of his gang members.

“We received the report on Friday night that Auwalun Daudawa had been killed,” Dauran said.

He however said they were yet to identify the group that killed him, “but we are still investigating.”

Dauran also said they have not seen the corpse of the bandit but those who saw it said he was not the only killed and that he also killed some people.

The Commissioner said “Daudawa had gone to Zamfara State for the wedding of his brothers. So he went along with his family only for us to receive report on Friday night that he had been killed.”

Dauran said they were yet to receive the report of security agents on the killing of the bandit because it happened at night.
