The local drug Coy, May & Baker, has produced a batch of chloroquine as emergency stock if needed to tackle COVID-19.
This was disclosed by the Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof Moji Adeyeye.
Many countries including the United States, Russia, Iran and France are using a combination of chloroquine and other drugs on coronavirus patients, even as race continues to produce vaccine to treat the virus.
The NAFDAC boss had earlier informed that Lagos State would start a clinical trial using chloroquine on COVID-19 patients.
She however warned against using the drug without prescription by medical doctors.
