Chairman Senate Committee of Defence commissions TETFund projects in NDA

The Chairman Senate Committee on Defence, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, today 24th January 2023 commissioned three major TETFund projects at the NDA Permanent site Afaka. The projects commissioned are the Computer Based Test (CBT) Hall, Faculty of Management Science and Department of Military Science.

In his remarks, Senator Wamakko who was the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH) commended TETFund for contributing to the success story of tertiary institutions in Nigeria and enhancing socio economic development in Nigeria through the funding of projects in tertiary institutions. The SGOH noted that the commissioning of the TETFund projects in NDA will further improve teaching and learning and improve academic standards at the Academy.
He reiterated that education forms an integral part of the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration agenda. Noting that he will continue to provide necessary support towards making educational institutions globally competitive for economic and technological development of the country.

Senator Wamakko further stated that through the support of the federal government, TETFund has performed exceptionally in the provision of physical infrastructure, support for academic staff training and development, book publications, ICT development and research and development.
Finally, the Senate Committee Chairman who expressed his delight to be part of the epoch-making event, commended the Commandant NDA, Major General IM Yusuf, for the developmental strides in the Academy.

Earlier, while delivering his Welcome Address, the Commandant NDA, Major General IM Yusuf, affirmed that NDA has enjoyed the intervention of TETFund in the areas of infrastructural development and human capacity development. He noted that indeed Nigeria has invested in the development of cadets and by extension the Nigeria Armed Forces.
The Commandant appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari and the Executive Secretary TETFund for their support to NDA over the years.
He confirmed that apart from the three commissioned projects, other TETFund projects are presently under construction, some of which would be ready in 30 days time, he added.

Also speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary TETFund, Arc Sonny ST Echono, who was represented by the Director Monitoring and Evaluation Department, Arc Babatunde Olajide, remarked that the commissioning of the projects marks the kickoff of commissioning of series of TETFund iconic projects in 24 beneficiary institutions spread across the six geo political zones of Nigeria. He commended the Federal Government’s commitment towards the growth of tertiary institutions in the country. He also thanked the NDA for keying into the objectives of the scheme by impacting on its cadets through teaching and research.

During the ceremony, a brief on the projects was presented by the NDA TETFund Desk Officer, Brigadier General S Inuwa, who recounted the success story that trailed the commissioning of the projects. According to him, the three projects were awarded in 2020 and completed in 2022.
