Zulum’s convoy attacked, 15 people killed

The convoy of Borno state governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has been attacked by Boko Haram terrorist group.

At least 15 people were killed in the attack which took place on Friday.

The governor was on his way to meet residents displaced by the terror group. He survived the attack in the Baga region without injuries.

Seven police officers were confirmed dead, three soldiers while the number of the injured remain unknown.

About 3 million people have been displaced in more than a decade of terror activities by Boko Haram. Scores of civilians are still trapped in remote communities unable to flee because of insecurity on the roads.

The violence, which has killed more than 30,000 people, has spread to neighboring Niger, Chad and Cameroon, prompting a military response.

Borno state is the epicenter of the insurgency.
