Borno gov’s wife launches APWEN’s IDPs relief package, donates 200 blankets

The Association of Women Engineers (APWEN) Maiduguri Chapter, Organises distribution of Food and Non food items to internally displaced persons camping at Shuwari 5 IDPs camp.

Wife of the Borno state Governor, Engr. Habiba Babagana Umara Zulum flagged off the distribution in a colourful ceremony at the premises of the camp.

In her remarks, Dr. Habiba expressed her happiness over the gesture by APWEN to the IDPs.

“It makes me happy to see my fellow women collecting this small gift, with a very big smiles on their faces. This cannot happen without the will of Allah and effort of the APWEN Chairperson alongside her Excos.” Said Engr Habiba.

“I’m calling for everyone to indulge in more prayers, for Allah to bring back peace to our dear state and nation atlarge. We’ll Insha Allah come back, this will not be the last time.” She concluded

In her welcome address earlier, Engr Kori Shettima Chairperson of (APWEN) Maiduguri chapter, who hosted the occasion disclosed that, there are 1,651 IDPs households from six local government areas in the Northern part of Borno state, which includes: Monguno, Kukawa, Nganzai, Guzamala, Marte as well as Abadam local government are residing in the camp.

A total of one hundred households received the relief items.The items include a Rice, Maggi Seasoning cubes, Salt, and the non food items include Sanitary Pad, Washing and Bathing soaps, detergents and Vaseline. Engr Shettima announced.

Engr. Shettima also announced the donation by Her Excellency Engr. Habiba of 200 blankets to be added to the distributed items to the IDPs on the spot, as the harmattan period is gearing up.

Husaini Ibrahim, the Camp’ s facilitator, urged for more food support from the state government to the camp.

Hajara from kukawa thanked the organisers while crying for happiness. Says thank you so much, you’ve given life to thousands, may Allah bless you and your Husband His Excellency Professor Babagana Umara Zulum as you take care of us in the state.

The Camp Chairman expressed his gratitude to Governor Zulum and Eng Habiba Babagana Umara Zulum for the good work they’ve been doing for the state.

The Camp Women Leader – was full of praise to the Governor, His wife and leadership of APWEN. “waited for the support for so long, and atlast we’ve got the support and recognition from the government. We also thank all the various NGOs that are here helping us. We’re 100 percent with govt at all levels and we are happy for the campaign on school, especially girl child’s education.
