Boko Haram kills 30, abducts many in Borno

Gunmen believed to be Boko Haram insurgents have killed over 30 people in Auno, Borno State, Dateline Nigeria has learnt.

The insurgents also kidnapped unspecified number of people, mostly travelers, around 10pm on Sunday, a member of the House of Representatives Satomi Ahmad told the BBC.

The lawmaker said the insurgents also burnt about 20 vehicles, some of them with passengers inside, adding that there were women and children among those abducted.

Auno town is situated about 24 kilometers from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zullum posted pictures of his visit to the affected area on his social media handles, where he disclosed that the federal and state governments are working tirelessly to end the Boko Haram insurgency.
