Bauchi police arrest man for defiling infants, 2 others for killing ‘girlfriend’

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 59-year-old man Alhamdu Yusuf for allegedly defiling a 1½ years old baby girl in Yelwan Kagadama area of the Bauchi metropolis.

The Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said in a statement on Saturday that the arrest followed a complaint lodged by a 31-year-old woman Nenkat Danladi.

He said Nenkat Danladi lodged the complaint at Yelwa Police Station on 09/08/2022 at about 1900hrs that on 06/08/2022 at about 1130hrs she met Alhamdu Yusuf of the same address on her bed with her daughter Blessing (not real name) ‘f’ aged 1½yrs.

“It was discovered that the private part of her daughter was oozing blood, on the receipt of the complaint, a team DCB personnel led by DPO yelwa rushed the victim to ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi for medical examination.

“The suspect was arrested and an investigation commence in earnest,” the statement said.

Similarly, the Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects named Munkaila Ado, 27, and Muazu Umaru, 35, over the killing of 13-year-old girl in Alkaleri.

The statement said one Alhaji Danladi Mohammed of Mai’ari Arewa village Pali had on 10/08/2022 at about 0900hrs lodged a formal complaint at the Divisional Police Headquarters Alkaleri that, on 04/08/2022 his daughter Safiya Alhaji Danladi, 13, went missing and that he suspected his house boy Munkaila Ado and Muazu Umaru to be the principal suspects.

“On the strength of that, preliminary investigation commenced. The scene was visited led by DPO Alkaleri and the victim was evacuated to General Hospital Alkaleri, where she was certified dead by a medical doctor.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed that the missing girl was his girlfriend and was four-month pregnant to the knowledge of her mother but unknown to the father Alhaji Danladi Mohammed.

“He further revealed that he conspired with the mother of the and his accomplice Muazu Umar took the victim to Gombe for abortion. On reaching Gombe, the victim was led to one Hajiya Amina Abubakar ‘f’ 50yr-old house in Jekada Fari behind Specialist Hospital Gombe where the victim was given some substances to cause miscarriage.

“Eventually, on their way to Mai’ari village along Akko LGA Gombe State, the two suspects strangulated the victim, leading to her death. In the same vein, they burnt the body of the victim beyond recognition and buried her in a nearby bush in Akko LGA Gombe state.

“Meanwhile, the two suspects were arrested for violating the human rights and dignity of the girl child.”

The command said the general public will be updated as the investigation unfolds.

The Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command CP Umar Mamman Sanda directed that the case be transferred to SCID for discreet investigation.
