Bauchi governor tasks Nigerian speakers on technology for effective legislation

Bauchi State Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed  has enjoined members of the Conference of Nigerian Speakers to be driven by technology for effective legislative proceedings in line with international best practices.

The governor gave the advice when he hosted principal officers and members of the Conference of Nigerian Speakers to a State Banquet and Gala Night at Government House, Bauchi after the conduct of their national meeting in Bauchi.

Governor Bala  said members of the conference are so important in the Nigeria project  particularly in ensuring good governance in Nigeria and urged them to initiate knowledge driven policies for better delivery rather than focusing only on passage of budget and other executive bills.

The governor emphasized the need for collaboration and working relationship between the Nigerian Governor’s Forum and the Conference of Nigerian Speakers for them to contribute positively towards addressing the numerous challenges facing the country.

“I am highly delighted to be with you at this moment and to thank you for coming to witness our hospitality by attending this reception after spending many hours discussing Nigerian challenges.”

“I want to use this medium to tell you that, our politics in Bauchi is different with others because despite our party differences  in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, i am very proud to inform you that I have enjoyed their tremendous support and that’s why we have been able to achieved successes.”

On the ongoing strike by the members of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), Governor Bala Mohammed pleaded with the striking workers to consider immediate suspension of the strike as their agitation for legislative autonomy is currently at a high level of discussion with critical stakeholders including governors and the presidency.

“No need for the workers of the houses of assembly to go for the strike because of the autonomy. I want them to give the speakers the benefit of doubt by coming back to work , because what they are agitating for is on the table and been discussed at high level.”

“Let me thank members of the Conference of Nigerian Speakers on behalf of the Government and people of Bauchi state because we are grateful for selecting Bauchi Speaker to lead you and I congratulated the Speaker for his proactive leadership in handling the conference and we will continue to support him to succeed.”

Speakers of Delta, Enugu and Kogi States Houses of Assembly in their separate goodwill messages, applauded Governor Bala Mohammed for his good synergy and understanding with the state Assembly despite political differences.

On the ongoing developmental projects embarked upon by the governor , the Speakers commended his transformational agenda and appealed to him to continue focusing on the execution of people-oriented projects that have direct impact on the lives of people of the state.

“Your Excellency, we are not surprised, we have come and we have seen. With the little resources,  you decided to embark on projects in housing scheme, water expansion project and road constructions among others.”

The Chairman of the conference and Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt Honorable Abubakar Y Suleiman while acknowledging the support of Governor Bala Mohammed to the forum, also appreciated his support , commitment and well established synergy with members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
