Bauchi gov swears in LG chairmen as PDP sweeps election

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has sworn in elected Local Government chairmen and their deputies following their victory in the Saturda election.

Dateline Nigeria reports that all the 20 LGs and 323 councillorship seats were won by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

A representative of the state Chief Judge Justice Hamidu Kunaza administered the oaths of office and allegiance on the 20 LG chairmen at the Banquet Hall of the Government House Bauchi.

 Governor Bala Abdulkadir described them as veritable tools for rural transformation and development, calling on them to run an all inclusive government to be able to deliver devidends of democracy to the people.

The governor charged them to work closely with relevant stakeholders in addressing insecurity accross the state.

He commended all stakeholders for ensuring a hitch free polls that recorded less or no violence.

Governor said that it is a thing of pride that the state has joined the league of other sister states that have entrenched democracy in the grassroots.

He implored the chairmen to enhance revenue generation, revitalise the education sector, healthcare services, agriculture and to continue with the laudable initiatives of the state government aimed at improving the lives of the peoples.

Responding on behalf of the elected chairmen, Yusuf Garba assured the governor of their commitment towards working in line with the PDP-led administration.

Earlier in the morning, the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission presented the certificates of return to all of the newly elected chairmen.

The presentation was led by the chairman of the BASIEC Alhaji Dahiru Tata at the head office of the commission.
