Reactions have continued to trail the appointment by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed of Balaraba Ibrahim as Special Assistant on Divorcees.
The government was forced to clarify that the appointment was for the governor to help divorcees adding that it was not for unmarried women as many people thought.
Spokesman of the Bauchi State Governor, Mukhtar Gidado, said the error in the appointment letter of Balaraba which read Special Assistant on Unmarried Women instead of Divorcees emanated from the office of the Secretary to the State Government.
“Already this woman is the chairperson of Divorcees in Bauchi State and they have programmes through which divorcees are helped. That is the reason the governor gave her the appointment,” he said.
He added that they copied the appointment from Kano State which has a coordinator for the affairs of divorcees.
Before her appointment, Balaraba, who is divorced with kids, used to be a staff of Federal Government College Azare.
