Bandits kidnap housewives, babies in Katsina

Over 20 married women and two babies were kidnapped by suspected bandits in two separate attacks in Faskari Local Government in Katsina State.

In a midnight attack Friday, the bandits abducted seven housewives from Unguwar Hayaki village, according to residents.

After two days, they raided a neighbouring town of Kwakware and took away two babies and 18 housewives, locals told Dateline Nigeria.

A resident of Unguwar Hayaki said his mother and step-mother were among the women taken on Friday night.

He said the bandits stormed the village on foot and stole valuables before forcing the women to go with them.

“They broke into my brother’s house but did not meet him because he had escaped over the fence together with his wife. They took clothes and footwears,” he said.

“I made several calls to my mother’s number but she did not answer. When I tried reaching her today, the line was switched off,” he said.

At Kwakware, the attackers killed two people who tried to resist them, it was gathered.

“They kidnapped 18 women and two babies,” a resident said.

Dateline Nigeria also gathered that last week, soldiers repelled an attempt by the bandits to attack the two communities.
