There was pandemonium on Friday night when daredevil armed bandits opened fire on motorists along the road linking the Rigasa train station and Kaduna international airport via Mando.
The gunmen attacked three people travelling in the same vehicle, killing a SecureNorth campaigner Rabiu Auwal and injuring Umar El-khaddab Arewa. The third person Sani Khalil is still missing.
According to their friend Mustapha Abubakar Dansaudia, the three youngmen were returning from Rigachukun when they ran into the gunmen.
“They went to Rigachukun to collect things we would have used for today’s Kaduna marathon. I was actually supposed to be with them but the Almighty Allah decided otherwise,” Dansaudia said.
The funeral prayers for Rabiu Auwal held Saturday morning, while El-khaddab is receiving treatment at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna.
The Kaduna State Police Command could not be reached for comment.
