Amnesty International Nigeria has condemned the arrest of Salihu Tanko Yakasai (@dawisu) for exercising his freedom of expression through a tweet.
“We call on the Nigerian authorities to immediately and unconditionally release him,” the rights group said on its twitter handle on Saturday.
“Nigerian authorities must respect the right of citizens to express critical opinions.”
Dateline Nigeria reports that Yakasai was just relieved of his appointment as an aide to Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje after criticising the Buhari Administration over the abduction of schoolgirls in Zamfara State.
