Aisha Buhari’s Future Assured distributes empowerment kits in Borno and Yobe

Women and youths in Borno and Yobe states have received Empowerment items from Future Assured Programme of the First Lady of Nigeria, Dr. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari.

The event was organised in Collaboration with National Centre for Women Development, said a statement by Aliyu Abdullahi, a Special Assistant to the President on Media & Publicity (Office of the First Lady).

The First Lady emphasized the need for well-meaning individuals to extend their hands of support to vulnerable Nigerians especially women, youths and children at the grassroots in order to cushion the effect of their hardship.

Presenting the items through the Director General, National Center for Women Development, Asabe Vilita Bashir, the First Lady implored the beneficiaries to make the best use of the items.

Items distributed in Maiduguri, Damaturu and Nguru towns include Sewing machines, complete kits of hair dressing and barbing tools, generating sets and deep freezers as well as chemicals for soap making and plastic chairs.

The items were distributed to women groups. Food palliatives comprising rice, semolina, macaroni, sugar and other essential commodities were also distributed during the event.

The exercise is part of a Nationwide Future Assured programme to complement the effort of government towards supporting women, youths and children particularly those at the grass root, and Future Assured collaborated with National Center for Women Development towards achieving the target.

Wife of the Governor of Borno State, Palmata Umara Zulum reaffirmed her commitment to supporting women, youth and children at all times and expressed her readiness to continue to partner with the First Lady in ensuring that Nigerian Women are empowered economically.

In the same vein, speaking on behalf of the Yobe State Government, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hauwa Bah Abubakar expressed happiness with the support and empowerment they have been receiving from the Nigeria First Lady.
