Aisha Buhari wants private healthcare intervention fund established

First Lady Aisha Buhari has made a case for the establishment of special private healthcare intervention fund like that of agriculture.

She spoke when members of the Guild of Medical Directors, led by the National President Professor Olufemi Babalola visited her at the State House on Thursday.

The guild is an umbrella for private medical practitioners in Nigeria.

“I used the opportunity to advocate for recognition of highly established private hospitals as an essential arm of the healthcare structure in Nigeria.

“I also seek for a review of the multiple taxation’s levied to private hospitals and a lack of access to reasonable credit facilities, which the sector suffers.

“Also, I seek for the establishment of a special private healthcare intervention fund like that of agriculture.

“Furthermore, I used the event to encourage Nigerians to follow the instructions given by the Federal Ministry of Health as preventive measures against the dreaded novel corona virus that has now become a pandemic,” the first lady said on her social media handles where she shared photos of the visit.
