2023: Ganduje endorses his deputy Gawuna as preferred successor

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has endorsed his deputy, Nasiru Gawuna, as his preferred successor in the 2023 elections.

Gawuna will however face others who are in the race for the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which controls Kano State.

Gawuna’s endorsement was done at a stakeholders’ meeting presided by Ganduje, according to the BBC Hausa, adding that it is yet to be made official.

Prior to Ganduje’s decision, former Kano State Commissioner of Local Government Affairs, Murtala Sule Garo, was seen as the leading contender for the Kano governorship race being the candidate of the Kano First Lady Hafsat Ganduje.
